picnic

It must be a pleasure to have a picnic with families in a holiday. Mum and Dad have both taken some time off to enjoy quality time with each other and the children. It’s time to enjoy an informal meal outdoors, as a family, with space for little ones to scamper about without annoying anyone.

Picnics are eco-friendly naturally because they get you, your pals, and your family out into nature. Certainly, before you have a picnic, you must prepare some tools and food for  your picnic. A reusable picnic basket vs. a bag; reusable dishes; and reusable cloth napkins can all be taken along on a picnic. If you can carry your gear to the site, you can carry it back. Don’t take trash out into the woods.

Some useful info that may help you:

  • Assembling ingredients and preparing the food
  • Beverages
  • Blanket
  • Baskets, bags, shopping cart for transporting the meal
  • Plastic or paper plates, cups, cutlery, etc.
  • Extracurricular activities, dog toys, titles for charades, etc.
  • It’s a good idea to involve the children from the onset and let them help with the planning. This does not have to be complicated but, by giving each one their own task, they will take on some responsibility and will therefore enjoy the day more than simply being “taken” on a picnic.

There are many varieties to choose from. Mushrooms are also easy to grow, You can buy mushroom kits with spores and everything you need to grow them in your home.

Home gardeners in China have been growing mushrooms for more than 1,000 years, and it’s finally catching on among North Americans.

Mushroom growing at home requires a cool, dark, damp place. Typically, this will be in a basement, but an unused cabinet or closet will also work. Anywhere you can create near darkness and control temperature and humidity.

Place the growing medium in a pan and raise the temperature of the area to about 70F (a heating pad works well for this). Place the spawn on the growing medium. In about 3 weeks, the spawn will have “rooted”, meaning the filaments will have spread into the growing medium.

Once this occurs, drop the temperature to between 55F and 60F. This is the best temperature for growing mushrooms. Then, cover the spawn with an inch or so of potting soil. Cover the soil and pan with a damp cloth and spray the cloth with water as it dries. Also, spritz the soil with water when it is dry to the touch.

In 3-4 weeks, you should see small mushrooms appear. Mushrooms will be ready for harvesting when their cap has fully opened and has separated from the stem.

    Now, Have a try!
