If you want to get a dog,you must know that dogs can be troublesome. They can bark, dig, and shed hair all over your furniture. They need to be exercised, and they cost money to feed. Fortunately there are things you can do to make sure your dog causes as few troubles as possible.

The first part of owning a problem free dog is to do your homework before you choose your canine companion. A dog should never be an impulse buy – this can be a recipe for disaster. Be realistic about how much time you have to exercise your dog, and how much time you want to spend on bathing and grooming them.

When you bring your new four legged family member home, you will need to invest some time in socializing and training them. This is the case for all dogs, irrespective of breed. Behavioral problems such as aggression and shyness can be reduced by proper and early socialization, such as puppy pre-school and puppy play dates. Take your new puppy out and about with you, so they experience all the sights and sounds of the world around them. As your pup grows up, continue their training at a dog obedience class that uses positive training methods.

If your idea of a good day is spending most of it on the couch watching a movie marathon, don’t get a working breed that needs lots of exercise. They will be bored and you are setting yourself up for trouble. It’s not fair on the dog either. If you prefer a wash and wear hairstyle, don’t buy a long haired dog that needs more frequent haircuts and a wider range of grooming products than you do! If you choose a breed of dog whose care needs fit well with your lifestyle, you will go a long way to reducing dog problems.

Put in the effort to choose the right dog for your family, then train and socialize them properly. All dogs need some exercise, so make sure you fit in at least a stroll around the neighborhood every day. After all, a tired dog is a happy dog. If you are going to be out for several hours, leave them an interactive toy to play with, so they don’t get bored and amuse themselves by chewing your cushions. By doing this, you’ll find that your dog is a pleasure to live with, instead of a source of stress and frustration.

Anyhow, dogs are the good friends of human. If you have decided to adopt a dog ,you must treat it well despite of dogs’ trouble.

Summer is the hot and fashionable season, which is not only for you.Don’t forget your dog.Dogs should also be considered how to live a happy summer. So, you don’t want to forget about the essentials, including accessories for both you and your four-legged friend. There are many great summer accessories out there for humans and their dogs.

1. Flip Flops

What is summer without a great pair of flip flops? Though you may not be able to wear them to the office, you can make sure to kick off those heels and slip into some comfy flip flops as soon as you get home. In the summer, many people wear flip flops to the store, the beach and everywhere else they can think of. They are quick and easy–you just slide them on! They are also a lot more comfortable than stuffy business shoes. Also, make sure that you get some kind of protection to rub on your pup’s paws in the middle of summer. The sidewalks get hot and can dry them out

2. Fun Costumes

You can dress yourself or your dog up in some fun summer costumes. For example, finding cute outfits like the bumble bee costume above is a great way to get into the summer spirit. Throw on a red swimming suit, and be a Baywatch lifeguard. No matter what party you are headed to, you can find some fun and funky costume for yourself or your dog.

3. Bling

You can’t talk accessories without talking about bling. Finding the perfect collar for your dog is more than just functionality. You also need something that looks great. If you are lucky, you may even be able to find a collar for your pup that matches your bracelet or necklace. This allows you both to look great, and show off your fashion sense.

4. Hats

You don’t want to get a sun burn, and you don’t need your furry friend getting too hot, either. You can find fun, fashionable hats for both you and your pooch. Whether you want to get a matching set, or you choose to look a little different, hats are a great option to keep you cool in the summer sun.

5. Purses

Purses are essential for any woman. Being able to carry everything around with you is extremely helpful, but your functionality should also be fashionable. If you’re out and about with your doggy make sure you have a purse that can fit water, a small bowl, a leash, toys, etc. If you’re walking around with a tiny dog, maybe your purse should be able to hold them too.

Accessories are important. They help pull an outfit together, and also quickly can show people a lot about your fashion sense. Finding the right accessory for you is important, but don’t forget about finding something great for your dog, as well. When you are looking for the perfect accessories, what do you think is most important for your dog?

When you decide to have a pet with you,you must be make your life happy and not alone. But,how to make your pet happy and healthy,it is also important. There are 5 things you can do to keep your pet happy and healthy. These five tips will help your pet love you even more and will keep them happy for the rest of their lives. It does not matter if your pet is a cat, dog, horse or whatever, these tips will help you have a happy pet.

Lots of love

Your pet needs a lot of love, affection and attention from you. Spend time with your pet, just like you get to know your friends or pets, your pet will get to know you. This is even true about fish so it will work with your mammal. Once they know you and trust you they will be even happier.

Outside and Inside Time

This may not work for all pets (ie. do not bring your horse inside the house) but if you keep an outside pet, invite them in every now and then. If your pet stays inside with you be sure to take them outside to play. Animals were born to be outside, so let them out to get some fresh air and watch their heart smile.

Feed them well

Just like humans, the key to a pets heart is through their mouth. Do not just assume that because its an animal they do not have food preferences. Mix up their diet, give them treats and snacks and most of all do not feed them low quality food. Your pet will thank you and be happier and healthier than ever.

Toys and Treats

Animals love to play. Watch a nature show and you will see that almost every animal and pet has a fun playful side to them. Toys, treats and other special things for your pet can make them know you care and will make them happy. A cat loves to climb and chase feathers, a dog loves chew toys, bones and playing fetch, a horse loves being ridden or walked or just petted and brushed.

A companion

This is another one that may be pet specific, but a companion could be a perfect thing to make your pet happy. If you have a cat, get another cat. Same thing with a dog. Sometimes animals of a different species can be best buddies. Another great companion is a human.

There you have it, 5 easy to implement tips that can make your pet happier than ever. Take the time to be sure your pet is happy and healthy, you and your pet will never regret it.

You may think it is cute to dress up your dog.But what is the original purpose?Just for fun?It is not the only reason to do that.Your dog is an animal just like human beings.Alright let’s admit it. Dogs do look a bit ridiculous in pet clothes, but for some breeds they can actually serve a purpose.

Little dogs are the ones who most likely need to wear sweaters, especially during the winter months. Chihuahuas, toy terriers, min pins, Jack Russells and other tiny tots are not equipped to deal with frigid temperatures. So those of you who have a dog with short hair may want to consider investing in something to bundle them up in for your daily walks.

Sweaters are highly recommended if you live in an area where the temperature drops below zero degrees. This is especially important if you take your dog for long walks or spend a lot of time with them outdoors. (In which case, you better bundle up too!) Dog sweaters can also help animals who are recuperating from an operation or an illness…or elderly dogs who may suffer from arthritis. It’s more comfortable for them when their muscles are kept warm.

Now on a side note, dogs who have long hair, should not wear sweaters at all-at least not for a long period of time. Veterinarians actually advise against animals wearing sweaters who are naturally predisposed to survive cold temperatures. Then again, who are we to keep you from taking pictures of your pets in those cute little outfits? Just don’t keep them on for too long!

The best dog sweaters cover the chest and end at the tail, and preferably don’t have any velcro- as that can cause irritation. You can find sweaters at just about any pet supply store or even online.

What do you think? Are sweaters necessary? Or just a cute accessory? Let me know your thought.

Have you slept with your pet?You may think it is so warm to let your pet sleep beside of you.But i think it is not scientific.

If you have a small dog and you like to spoil them by letting them sleep in your bed, you may wonder why they burrow under your blankets and pillows. It’s pretty easy to explain. They do it for safety and security.

Little breeds like Daschshunds and Chihuahuas naturally enjoy snuggling and being cozy. More often than not, if there’s a blanket lying around they’ll be digging at it so they can crawl right under. Once your dog has bonded with you, keeping close to gives it a sense of peace. So consider it a compliment if your little one is always trying to be next to you.

If you feel like a crazy dog lady by sharing your bed with your four legged friend, know this: A new study found that about 25% of women who own pets regularly sleep with their pet and about 16% of men do.

Now the bad news. The same study also found that sleeping with your pets can make you sick. Pets can bring all kinds of germs into your bed – like fleas and Salmonella or things like cat scratch fever. The study even refers to some extreme cases of death related to sleeping with a pet.

So maybe it’s a better idea to give your pet his or her own blanket and bed rather than sharing one. But on a cold winter’s night, that may be easier said than done for both of you.

The Pekingese, Pekinese or “Peke” (also commonly referred to as a “Lion Dog”, or “Pelchie Dog” due to their resemblance to Chinese guardian lions) is an ancient breed of toy dog, originating in China. They were the favored pet of the Chinese Imperial court, and the name relates to the city of Beijing where the Forbidden City resides. The breed has several characteristics and health issues related to its unique appearance. Because of its desirable characteristics, the Pekingese has been part of the development of designer crossbreeds, such as the Pekeatese.

History of Pekingese

The breed originated in China in antiquity, in the city of Peking. Recent DNA analysis confirms that the Pekingese breed is one of the oldest breeds of dog, one of the least genetically diverged from the wolf. For centuries, they could be owned only by members of the Chinese Imperial Palace.

During the Second Opium War, in 1860, the Forbidden City was occupied by a contingent of British and French troops. The Emperor Xianfeng had fled with all of his court to Chengde. However, an elderly aunt of the emperor remained. When the “foreign devils” (Europeans) entered, she committed suicide. She was found with her five Pekingese mourning her passing. They were removed by the Allies before the palace was burnt to the ground.

Lord John Hay took a pair, later called “Schloff”, and “Hytien” and gave them to his sister, the Duchess of Wellington, wife of Henry Wellesley, 3rd Duke of Wellington. Sir George Fitzroy took another pair, and gave them to his cousins, the Duke and Duchess of Richmond and Gordon. Lieutenant Dunne presented the fifth Pekingese to Queen Victoria of the United Kingdom, who named it Looty.

The Empress Dowager Cixi presented Pekingese to several Americans, including John Pierpont Morgan and Alice Lee Roosevelt Longworth, daughter of Theodore Roosevelt, who named it Manchu. The first Pekingese in Ireland was introduced by Dr. Heuston. He established smallpox vaccination clinics in China. The effect was dramatic. In gratitude, the Chinese minister, Li Hongzhang presented him with a pair of Pekingese. They were named Chang and Lady Li. Dr. Heuston founded the Greystones kennel.

Around the turn of the century, Pekingese dogs became popular in Western countries. They were owned by such arbiters of fashion as Queen Alexandra of the United Kingdom, and Elsie de Wolfe, popular American interior decorator.

Temperament

An ancient toy breed, the Pekingese is an excellent watchdog who thinks he is far larger and braver than he really is. They are distrusting of strangers, and will bark at unusual noises. (However, they are generally not nuisance barkers.) The Pekingese has a high opinion of himself, and he can be protective of his owner to the point of being possessive. He will need to be trained so that this protective instinct does not turn into aggression. It takes a patient person to train a Pekingese, because they are stubborn and opinionated. They can be quite difficult to housetrain. The Pekingese has low exercise needs, but still enjoys walks. Because of the shape of their nose, they cannot handle extreme temperatures. Be careful when they exercise that they don’t overheat. Also, they must never be left out in the sun. They are hardier than their reputation lets on, and they don’t mind going out for a romp in the rain. Of course, you are the one who will have to clean them afterwards. They don’t need much space to be happy and can live contentedly in an apartment or a mansion. They can do well with other animals, but it really depends on the specific dog. Just know that all Pekingese are fearless, so a larger stronger dog can pose a serious threat. Some Pekingese do well with children. Others do not. Pekingese are small, and their large, beautiful eyes are very sensitive to the picked fingers of a toddler. Many breeders will not let a Pekingese go to a home with a small child. Your Pekingese will love to show off and will prance around trying to impress you. An independent little character, he can entertain himself for hours with a toy. But he also loves your attention. The Pekingese is an affectionate dog who will take pride in being your favorite companion. But consider yourself warned: he will snore, snort, sneeze and snuffle.

Appearance

The Pekingese breed is over 2000 years old and has hardly changed in all that time. One exception is that modern breeders and dog-show judges seem to prefer the long-haired type over the more-traditional spaniel-type coat.

The Pekingese’s flat face is one of the breed’s most obvious characteristics. The body is compact and low to the ground. Pekingese also have a muscular and durable body The legs are noticeably bowed and restrict the Pekingese’s movement. The Peke’s unusual rolling gait may have been deliberately bred to prevent the court dogs from wandering.

CoatA Pekingese has a double coat. Trimming the coat is discouraged in show dogs. The Pekingese has a noticeable mane and feathering around the ears, tail and legs.

All breed standards allow all sorts of color combinations. The majority of Pekingese are gold, red or sable. Light gold, cream, black, white, sables, black and tan and occasionally ‘blue’ or slate grey have appeared in the breed. The latter often has poor pigment and light eyes. Albino Pekingese (white with pink eyes) should be bred cautiously due to health problems that have been associated with albinism.

A black mask or a self-colored face is equally acceptable in show dogs. Regardless of coat color the exposed skin of the muzzle, nose, lips and eye rims is black.

SizePekes weigh from 7 to 14 lb (3.2 to 6.4 kg) and stand about 6–9 inches (15–23 cm) at the withers, however they can sometimes be smaller. These smaller Pekes are commonly referred to as “Sleeve” Pekingese or just “Sleeves”. The name is taken from ancient times, when emperors would carry the smallest of the breed in their sleeves. A Pekingese over 14 pounds is disqualified in the show ring.

The Pekingese is slightly longer than tall when measured from the forechest to the buttocks. The overall outline is an approximate ratio of 3 high to 5 long.

Grooming and Exercise

Daily combing and brushing of the very long, double coat is essential. Take extra care around the hindquarters, which can become solid and matted. Females shed the undercoat when in season. Dry shampoo regularly. Clean the face and eyes daily and check the hairy feet for burrs and objects that stick there. These dogs are average shedders.

Pekingese need a daily walk, where the dog is made to heel beside or behind the person holding the lead, as instinct tells a dog the leader leads the way, and that leader needs to be the human. Play will take care of a lot of their exercise needs, however, as with all breeds, play will not fulfill their primal instinct to walk. Dogs who do not get to go on daily walks are more likely to display behavior problems. They will also enjoy a good romp in a safe open area off lead, such as a large fenced in yard. Get your Pek accustomed to the leash when they are still a puppy. Some owners have told me their Pek will walk up to 4 miles on a nightly walk.

Is this dog cute?If you own this lovely dog,i believe that your life will be more colourful.Feeding Pekingese is not complex, he will be your loyal friend.

The summer is coming ,how are your pets? There is no problem that your pets are feeling hot as well as you .Next paragraphp will tell you how to make your cats feel better.

Heatstroke

You know the drill: the sun is blinding, relentlessly beating down reminiscent of a Stephen King novel. If you don’t have air conditioning, you seek out shady spots and sigh in relief from the slightest breeze, otherwise you huddle inside. Your thirsty body craves fluids, and the beverage of choice suddenly becomes water. If you stay in the sun too long you may become dizzy, have heart palpitations, and increased internal temperature, all signs of impending heat exhaustion.

Consider this: before you ever reach that point, your cat may also be showing signs of heat exhaustion or heat stroke. Although heat stroke is more commonly discussed in dogs, because of people’s propensity to leave them in parked cars, cats can be affected too. Cats can’t always tell you they’re not feeling up to par, but they sure can show you. Early symptoms of heat stroke and the accompanying dehydration are:

Panting

Anxiety, possibly demonstrated by pacing

Increased heartbeat

Respiratory distress or hyperventilation (Breeds with flat noses may exhibit this earlier because of compromised airways.)

Dark red gums

Lethargy

Increased internal body temperature Your cat’s internal temperature should be between 100.5° and 101.5° F. A temperature of 104° or more is a definite warning sign. Here is how to take kitty’s temperature.

How to Help Your Cat Avoid Heatstroke

You can help your cat survive extremely hot weather by keeping him indoors in a cool interior room. Rubbing him down with a damp towel will help; so will immersing his feet in a tub of cool water. Wrapping a cold compress under the cat’s neck will also help cool him off. He may fight at first, but most likely will appreciate it once he gets used to the idea. Try wrapping a plastic bag of frozen peas in a towel, and placing in in his bed for a cool spot to lie. The peas will rearrange themselves to fit his contours and he’ll have a “custom spa” for cooling off.

Make sure he has several bowls of cool water available. It doesn’t hurt to drop an ice cube in once in awhile, not only to cool the water, but to pique kitty’s interest in drinking. Strangely enough, cats affected by external heat may refuse to drink water, exacerbating the problem of dehydration, so you may want to “force” water by using an eyedropper or syringe. Be careful not to shoot the water down his throat as it can enter his lungs and/or cause choking. Just dribble a drop or two at a time in the corner of his mouth, which will help hydrate him and draw his interest to drinking on his own.

If your cat exhibits any of the signs above that lead you to think he is suffering heat exhaustion, cool him down as quickly as possible by immersing him in cool water, and then wrapping him with wet towels. Then get him to the veterinarian immediately. This is a serious, potentially fatal condition.

Sunburn

White cats, or cats with white ears and faces, are particularly susceptible to sunburn. Over a period of time, exposure to the sun can cause squamous cell carcinoma, a cancer found most often on the tips of the ears and nose. Early signs are a sore that does not heal, or that bleeds. My own introduction to squamous cell carcinoma was with our beloved little white cat, Arthur, who died of it at 18 years. Because of her age, we were reluctant to allow either surgery or chemotherapy, the two treatments of choice, and she passed on about three months after being diagnosed.

White cats should be kept out of direct sun as much as possible, and if they must be in the sun, you can help them prevent sunburn by using a sunscreen on their ears and noses. Your veterinarian can recommend one which will not be harmful if ingested.

The sun is a powerful giver of life and still worshiped by people all over the world, but it is not always your cat’s best friend. Be aware of his condition on sweltering summer days, and if you have any doubts at all, get him to the veterinarian immediately. You are the only defense he has.

Named as Perfect, a tibetan mastiff ran back to its previous owner who feels hard to say goodbye to Perfect.

Changsha —By the price of 1.2 million yuan, Mr. Hu of North Town in Changsha city sold “Perfect Prince” one of his tibetan mastiffs; to his surprise, the dog ran back from its new owner soon.

“At that moment, he threw himself into my arms, like an abandoned child.” Mr Hu said with guilty when he thought about “Perfect Prince” running 30 km back its old home. He would like to buy “Perfect Prince” back for the sake of its loyalty.

On the morning of Nov. 23, Mr Herr was satisfy with the look of a handsome black tibetan mastiff named ” Perfect Prince” on a Dog Expo. Herr brought the 9-month-old “Prince” by 1.2 million yuan.

Walking around in the room, “Prince” showed its anxiety, when Mr. Hu picked all “Prince’s” stuff and told Mr. Herr some tips of raising it. “I feed him since he was born. He is like my child. Please take care of him”, Hu said to Herr. Though Hu called “Prince”, the dog played deaf as if he knew that he was to be sent eslewhere. Having no idea, Mr. Hu asked four neighbors to carry “Prince” into a car by force. “Prince” struggled and growled for a long time.

Running 30 km back home

” ‘Perfect Prince’ is lost!” Herr called Hu on the morning of December 20. Herr said that the dog ran away when Herr walked it in the morning. Hu started to worry about what if “Prince” bited others, what if it was killed … While he was worring, “Prince” was already at Hu’s door with tears in its eyes. Hu’s felt a little relieved when he saw “prince” back, but a question occured to him ” how could he return home by ranning such a long way. I’ve never walked him far from home.”

It is 30 km from Changsha County to North bamboo Lake where Mr Herr lives. To Hu’s surprise, “Prince” became indifferent and unwilling to eat and drink since he returned his old home.

Two men and a dog

” I brought ‘Perfect’s mom, and I’ve raised him till now since he was born” said Hu. He feeds too many dogs to take care of every dog. “Prince’s” royalty touched Mr. Hu, and he decided to buy it back . But Mr Herr said that he also likes “Perfect” very much, and he totally understands the dedication, royalty and brightness of the dog. Herr will not sell “Perfect Prince” back to Hu.

At present, the consultation is still between the old master and the new.

Also called Do-Khyi, the Tibetan Mastiff originally hails from China’s Tibet as the name signifies. It was not until the 1970s that the Tibetan Mastiff was imported to other countries like United States, Germany and Switzerland. This particular breed is the originator of many European mastiff breeds.
A Tibetan Mastiff is 24-28 inches tall (at shoulder) and weighs 140-180 pounds. It is typical mastiff type but not as heavy. Their tail is stretched to the back in loose curl. They have a coat of medium length but with a thick undercoat. These dogs also possess a lock around their neck. The Tibetan Mastiff looks best in black, brown or bluish grey with or without tan markings. In Tibet this dog is commonly found wearing a red yak’s-hair collar.

Although these are fierce guard dogs, they are very loyal to their master and gentle with children. They are responsive to training and perfect when tamed as pets. These dogs are not long lived and they are also prone to hip dysphasia. Also, for these dogs brushing is an absolute necessity.

There are so many kinds of dogs, what dog is your favor? Different people like the different types. There is an interesting saying:”The dog is the host. ” I like the dobra most. Because Dobra is clever and loyal to their host.

You may be surprised at how many different dog breeds are available today. Before choosing a breed, look for an informative book on dog breeds or Web site to help you determine which one is right for you.

Shetland Sheepdog: Small, easily trainable and possessing a soft temperament, they are intelligent and – with the right training techniques – will learn new behaviors very quickly.

Poodle (any variety): These dogs score extremely high on both the trainability scale and on the intelligence scale. I’m always amazed at how quickly these dogs can pick up an new behavior. It’s almost like communicating to a human in dog clothing. If it wasn’t for the sissy factor, I’d probably own one myself. Professional dog trainers see very few dog owners who walk through the door with troubling behavior problems. If everyone owned a Poodle, we’d all be out of business.

Golden Retriever: These dogs have a soft, pliable and easily trainable temperament. They are very pain-resistant and very forgiving to the owner who accidentally steps on a toe or clumsily trips on the dog. Purchased from a good breeder, these dogs are a joy to own.

Boston Terrier: These dogs are clean and quiet. They make a fantastic house dog and are very easy to get along with. A perfect companion for the elder dog owner, or just somebody who wants a very peaceful dog ownership experience with a breed that is not very demanding.

Each dog breed is known for certain characteristics; as you choose from your list of dogs you can find out more about each breed and how it is likely to interact with your family and whether it will fit in with your lifestyle. The dog breed selector will help you make the right choice about the next member of your family.

It is not very easy to keep a dog. When it comes to feeding your dog, there are many considerations to keep in mind. First and foremost, pets are living creatures, capable of fear, love, pain, loneliness, and joy. They should never be considered disposable property, for they should be considered members of the family.

Food: dogs have very particular dietary needs, and commercial dog food, having been developed specifically to address these needs, is really the best choice for them. Dogs have a very specific hierarchy or “pecking order” which stems from their early years in the wild and they will expect to be fed accordingly.
